CFE Files Brief in Final Appeal to State's Highest Court

January 31, 2003 - Today, the Campaign for Fiscal Equity filed its brief in the final appeal of the landmark school funding lawsuit, CFE v. State of New York. The submission of CFE's brief to the Court of Appeals in Albany marks the final stages of the decade-old challenge to the state's education funding formula on behalf of millions of school children who have been denied their constitutional right to the opportunity for a "sound basic education."

Michael A. Rebell, CFE's Executive Director and Counsel stated: "We intend to ask the Court of Appeals to emphatically emphasize that all children are entitled to a decent high school education and to throw on the ash heap of history the notion that an 8th grade education is good enough for our children."

A .PDF copy of the entire 154-page brief and a summary of the brief are now available.
