The Status of CFE v. State of New York

CFE files its Reply Brief with the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court. Dozens of groups show their support as amici curiae ("friends of the court").

On September 28, attorneys for the Campaign for Fiscal Equity filed a 209-page brief today in the state's appeal of CFE v. State, the landmark school funding lawsuit that strongly argued that a better state funding system will improve educational opportunities for millions of public school children in New York City and in districts across the state. The brief was filed in the Appellate Division of the New York State Supreme Court, which will hear oral arguments in the appeal on October 25. [More on Brief's Key Points]

In addition, dozens of groups showed their support for CFE as amici curiae ("friends of the court"). To date, the State of New York has had no amici curiae filed on their behalf. CFE is grateful for the time and effort groups put in to support CFE in this round of the litigation. A complete list of amici and their briefs are available online.
