A: CFE's
strength comes from the support of many individuals and groups
who share our commitment to a sound basic education for every
student in New York State. If you are interested in helping
our cause, you can:
Spread
the word.
Many people don't know a lot about how our current school funding
system shortchanges students and schools across the state. Talk
or write about how these issues affect your community and what
organizations like CFE are doing to help strengthen all our
schools and ensure a sound basic education for every child.
Come to a CFE event or have CFE speak at yours.
CFE holds forums around the state to discuss the most current
issues affecting the quality of education in New York. We welcome
you to attend, and encourage you to bring others. CFE is also
pleased to speak at other events or venues. We have participated
in panel discussions, spoken to college students, led workshops
in high school classrooms, appeared on local television shows,
given radio interviews, taken part in rallies, and even facilitated
talks in houses of worship.
Meet
with, call, or write to your elected representatives.
Politicians need to hear from their constituents that a quality
education for every student is a top priority. While CFE can
work daily to fight for these issues, a visit or a phone call
from a constituent who is a parent, a teacher, a student, or
even just a concerned citizen is invaluable. Your elected officials
are in office to serve you. Make sure they know that you care
about creating a fair funding system that offers every child
a chance for a bright future.
Volunteer to lend your time or talents to CFE.
A number of volunteers help strengthen CFE's efforts by carrying
out research, lending their graphic design or computer skills,
coordinating events, or providing administrative assistance.
If you have time or talents you think might be useful to CFE,
please contact us. Your support will make a difference in the
lives of children.
Get
involved with one of CFE's partner organizations.
CFE is a coalition of parent organizations, community school
boards, concerned citizens and advocacy groups. These groups
share CFE's goal of ensuring the opportunity to a meaningful
education for all students, and they work daily, in areas around
the state, to create a brighter future for our children. CFE
encourages you to get involved with any of these organizations.
Our collective strength and dedication is what will make schools
stronger across New York State.
